For Drag Chevette or others racing on E85 I am interested in knowing if you are racing with a lean tuneup for consistency or any other little tricks that work with E85. |
my BG specs:
PMJ – 83
SMJ – 92
Power Valve – 5.5 (pulls 8" at 1300 rpm idle)
PVCR -- .093 (more fuel under trans brake makes the
car not shake)
IFR .038
IAB -- .063
HSB -- .026
Booster -- .170
anti-siphon -- .028
eholes -- .029,Blank,.029, Blank, .029
Accel pumps are both 30cc
pump cams -- pink
squirters -- .031 (hollow screw)
I stage my car at 170* and during the pass I may see a 8* change in water temp, my top end EGT is around 1280*. The EGT are a bit high for my liking but that could be the fact I have it 1 1/4" from the head.
I could go a step fatter, but im not sure I would want to at this time.
the car seems to be hitting the numbers right on every time.....
what do the rest of you have for Carb Specs? whos carb? |

Jim and Short,
right now your pulling on the boosters really hard and dumping a ton of fuel down low in the RPM band,,,
I would try to open the boosters up to a minimum of a .165 this will decrease some of your down low flow and ad it to the big end where your loosing fuel from the restriction.....
by doing this you should accelerate quicker and yet have the fuel to carry you through the big end of the rpm band.
just a suggestion....your gas boosters are restricting the top end flow needed.
keep us posted.

I cant argue with what youve stated. However our logs show that the
afr stays the same from lauch to finish line .
NOw on this motor the main seems to pull hard at 3000 RPM. So to get cruise jetting nice and lean it takes a 73 -74 pri. jet. Now we tried this on Erics car and it cruise lean with a 80 pri. jet. Bigger motor. But both motors with the current jetting are the same AFR under full throttle . But with a 73 jet up front we can get enough fuel through the PVCR to compensate. Thats why the PVCR is so big.
IM installing .170 boosters in my HP950 and see how things go. Might stick it on this 350 for comparison purposes . _________________ ----------------------

My jets are simply drilled. I have run both factory #99 jets and these .129" jets with little difference.
The hole in my main body leading to the booster is .170" (stock), so perhaps drilling the metering block cross passage even more than I already have (.140 to .157) will help, especially since the main well at the top is .177 at the siphon, and .189 above it. The booster is the factory gas 950HP part, downleg style.
Footbrake staging at 2500 rpm gives a nice Lambda of 0.83, but it is leaner going down the track, but never goes leaner at the end of the run. It isn't perfect, but works OK.
What is the part number of the .170 booster for the 950HP and what is needed to install it? _________________ '69 Dodge Dart 511 CID 3230 lb Ron's Injection http://www.ronsfuel.com

Brasswell sells a .170" alky style downleg booster, just give them a call or take a look at their website.
You can buy a tool for about $290 from AED I believe. 89Shortbox is a professional tool and die EDM guy and is working on a homemade version. He has installed a couple with his prototype tool not sure if he is interested in making more tools or not . . . _________________ E85 racer and E85 carb builder

Thanks Eric,
For the cost of the proper installation tooling, I will leave that to a carb shop if I ever decide to try a different booster. |

see if you can find a 950 methanol main body and swap your air bleeds into it...swap out the main bodies and go with it....
this should put you up around .177 on the boosters, but yet keep the rest of your parts. |
