I'm daily driving my Evo on E85 for over 1 year and love it. Anyways, Just wanted to show you a new product which might help you guys out with tuning:

skiracer- at +/- 5% accuracy rating I would guess it in reality will fall in that range (10% variance). Have you tested it against a known supply or tested E85 sample? I do have a bit of an issue with their claim E85 can be 92%- perhaps this is 2% blend error and 5% meter error--yet having this tool is a nice thing to have available- thanks for the link. Wink

That pic was taken when gas was +$4.00/gallon last summer. I've personally read anywhere from 82%-92% from that pump. Maybe they blended in some extra ethanol when gas prices were sky high ?

My most recent fillup with 12.4 gallons of E85 and 1.6 gallons of 91 octane, i'm reading E69.

Oh, I have a GM Flex Fuel Sensor (GM Part# 12570260) installed in my car. I know the sensor outputs temperature. I personally have no use for the temperature function, but just wondering what the GM Flex Fuel Vehicles would use the temperature function for. Does it send a signal to the ECU to aid in cold starts or something?

A flex fuel sensor is required for this piece of hardware. Will a Ford sensor work? Instructions to install a flex fuel sensor? This is what I would like but my limited mechanical skills are going to hinder my ability to install the flex fuel sensor in my non-flex fuel Escape Hybrid. Are there instructions to install a Ford Flex fuel sensor?

On Zeitronix's webiste, they list various cars which use the GM Flex Fuel sensor which Ford appears to use as well. So, maybe they use the same sensors??

Anyways, you can install the GM sensor inline with your fuel return line since the sensor is not dependant on which make of car you have if your car is a non flex fuel vehicle. You just need to buy some extra fuel line and hose clamps, and some barbs to connect fuel lines. Should only take 10-15 minutes to install the sensor once you locate the fuel return line.

I got a $399.00 figure for a new GM fuel composition sensor from ther previous link. One then has to add the purchase cost of the zeitronix hardware. Neat device but too pricey for my budget. GM and Ford both have virtual flex fuel calculations--reading off the oxygen sensors and the engine control(computer) module --in many of their newest models. I'm assuming it is just a matter of time before some aftermarket vendor can device a way to read these values without having to add an additional fuel composition sensor.

From what I remember when talking with the manufacturer of the FFV sensor, GM doesn't currently use the temperature output from the sensor. They wanted it in case they ever would need it I guess. Also, the percentage of alcohol read by the sensor will change with temperature so maybe that's why the option was there. I have one installed along with a custom display I had made before Zeitronix came out with theirs.
