I think I have good news for you Ernie- I know of 2 Dodge Spirit M85 cars in my area that have fueled with E85 for over 3 years now. You likely have a car that originally Federal Govt Fleet spec. You have even more choices for fuel than the rest of us- congrats!!!!
These cars were made with fuel systems that could crank up to the much higher fuel volumes needed for M85. E85 sits right in the middle of the fuel range the car was built for plus it was made to handle FAR more corrosive fuels than anything you will likely put in it (unless you find some M85 (85% methanol/15% gas). These were interesting cars and the two I know of have held up well in spite of their miles and age.
On my E85 fuel dispensers I used to put on M85 equipment but now that E85 nozzles and swivels are made i use the E85 version. I experienced somewhat shortened seal life using seals made for methanol but this has not been an issue for the two M85 Spirits I know of- they likely used a different seal since they would go from gas to methanol and back- whereas M85 pump equip was dedicated to M85. |
